About Us

The Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District office is here to help landowners in Jefferson County conserve their soil, water and other natural resource. We provide technical and financial assistance to landowners to help them install agricultural best management practices (BMP's) 


The Jefferson SWCD seeks to help farmers cost effectively improve operations on their land and conserve natural resources, ensuring that we leave a positive legacy for future agriculturalists. In pursuit of that goal we provide technical and financial assistance to farmers in Jefferson County. Here are just a few of the BMP's practices we assist with:

  • Access road
  • Animal trails/walkways
  • Cover Crops
  • Cross fencing
  • Exclusion Fencing
  • Heavy use area -feeding pads
  • Livestock watering facilities
  • Livestock pipeline
  • Stream crossings
  • Streambank & Shoreline Protection
  • Tree/Shrub Site Preparation
